More ambitious energy efficiency rules will boost economy, say environmentalists

Energy efficiency targets for Europe will be decided this week by the European Parliament’s Industry Committee.

Environmentalists are calling on MEPs to support the 40% target which they say will increase innovation, boost jobs and lead to a boost in GDP by 4.4%.
However there have been calls from industry and some politicians to lower the target to 30%. The vote takes place on Tuesday October 28.
In this video Roland Joebstl, the EEB’s Policy Officer for Energy and Climate, explains why it is crucial that we achieve the 40% target.
