Behind the closed doors of Europe’s industrial farms lies a quiet but devastating environmental toll. Factory farming, with its relentless push for cheap animal products, is polluting our air, poisoning our water, and driving the climate crisis - all while damaging the ecosystems we depend on for our very survival.

Across the EU, industrial animal agriculture is responsible for 93% of ammonia emissions and over half of methane emissions—pollutants that are heating up our planet and fuelling climate breakdown, the consequences of which are being felt acutely and increasingly across Europe. But the damage doesn’t stop there.

Factory farms leak massive amounts of animal waste into Europe’s rivers, lakes, and groundwater, creating ecological “dead zones” and threatening clean water. In 2022 alone, the cost of this pollution reached €25 billion. Soils are degrading and biodiversity is vanishing. This isn’t just an environmental issue—it’s a warning that our food system is dangerously off balance. This exhibition invites you to look beyond the supermarket shelves and into the true costs of factory farming. The environmental destruction is real—and so is the need for change.
